Train Operations Trainer

Location: Birmingham, B3

Salary: up to £62,400 per annum

Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, but consideration may be given to flexible working arrangements.

We are seeking to expand our Academy Centre, looking for a Train Operations Trainer to join our team. Based in Birmingham you’ll be responsible for the delivery of core operational training programmes such as Driver Rules and Personal track safety.

Train Operations Trainer Responsibilities:


  • You must take reasonable care for your own health and safety and of persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work;
  • You must co-operate on matters regarding safety and health;
  • You must not interfere with anything provided in the interest of health and safety – for example override safety features of equipment;
  • You must follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you;
  • Tell someone (your employer, supervisor or health and safety representative) if you think the work or inadequate precautions are putting anyone’s health and safety at serious risk;
  • You must support the business in achieving its objectives laid out in its latest Environment & Energy Policy.
  • This list is not considered to be exhaustive and you will be required to undertake other tasks as and when needed.

Train Operations Trainer Requirements:


  • Previous operational experience as qualified Train Driver is a prerequisite (min 3 years qualified essential).
  • Excellent knowledge of railway rules and regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and verbal are essential.
  • Organised, flexible, able to work on own initiative and as part of a team is essential.
  • Train Driver Rules & Regulations Competence essential.
  • Successful completion of Personal Track Safety Training essential.
  • Successful completion of Level 3 Qualification in Learning and Development essential.

Desirable:


  • Training experience including delivery of programs is preferred.
  • Previous experience of working with a Driver Train Simulator is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of WMT operations and geography an advantage.
