IT Business Partner

Location: Halesowen, West Midlands

Salary: £45,000

Purpose of the IT Business Partner role:

Over the last year, the IT organisation within ERIKS UK & Ireland has delivered a very significant ERP programme, has established a Shared Services organisation alongside colleagues worldwide, and has started the process of outsourcing commodity services and management of our infrastructure to Cognizant. It is now time to turn our attention to the future.

The creation of a new Digital organisation within ERIKS Group has been announced, reflecting the importance of embracing new digital technologies that help us and our customers to improve our processes and increase profitability. This is an exciting challenge that can make a huge contribution to our future business success, and one that requires us to transform the way that we deliver IT – and one element of this transformation is restructuring the organisation.

As part of this restructuring, a number of IT Business Partners are now being recruited to establish a much tighter linkage between strategic business goals and delivery of IT value. As these are entirely new positions, there will be scope to shape and flex the role over time.

Responsibilities of the IT Business Partner:

The principle accountabilities of each IT Business Partner are:


  • Act as the Single Point of Contact within their business scope – communicates IT in business language and provides business feedback to IT.
  • Understand and contribute to the strategic imperatives of their business scope.
  • Scan the Market Horizon for innovative technologies, new applications and “the art of the possible” – and match to the underlying business strategy, risks and opportunities.
  • Form high-performing and collaborative integrated project teams from IT skill groups plus other suppliers and business specialists as required to plan, change and run IT for their business scope.
  • Develop a compelling vision of IT/Digitally-enabled Target Operating Model in the context of the wider business strategic imperatives within their business scope, and ensures buy-off with their stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain the roadmap of candidate change projects required to realise the Target Operating Model, and submits into project/portfolio demand management process.
  • Determine the business case for each of their projects.
  • Considering overall affordability and capacity, ensure their priority candidate change projects are funded and launched in line with roadmap and stakeholder expectations.
  • Operate project governance in conjunction with stakeholders to review progress, escalate issues, ensure alignment and assure ultimate benefit delivery.
  • Implement Target Operating Model changes within their business scope.
  • Ensure business readiness through creating and operating a standard implementation process that captures lessons learned from implementation to implementation
  • Identify other operational changes (e.g. load, shift patterns etc) that may impact IT service delivery, and submits into service demand management.
  • Contribute as required to setting objectives, managing performance, developing potential and modelling behaviours.
  • Feedback IT Process Performance and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements of the IT Business Partner:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience of working in Distribution, Engineering and Manufacturing or MRO business, or strong functional experience.
  • Experience of influencing or setting corporate strategy.
  • Experience of leading and delivering business change initiatives.
  • Experience of Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, Process Architecture or Business Analysis desirable.
  • Experience of Lean and 6 Sigma desirable.
