Position: Group Head of IT (FTSE 100 Company)

Location: London, (zone 1)

Start date: asap – 13 weeks

Role type: Permanent

Salary: £95-105K basic 50% bonus Share options (20%) 14% pension health insurance 27 days holiday

The Client:

Our client is an award winning & thriving International Plc based in Central London who require a Head of IT to assume IT operations management across the whole organisation. Based in their prestigious HQ this exciting opportunity requires candidates from a Plc/Blue-chip background with the requisite communication skills that a corporate environment demands.

The Role as Group Head of IT:

The Group Head of IT will lead day-to-day IT operations to deliver and support an efficient IT environment, fully integrated and secured in line with Group strategic objectives. You will assume responsibility and line management (Infrastructure, Applications, Service Delivery, Cyber Security, Business Systems and Finance) of all groups IT functions.

Key duties/responsibilities include;


  • IT Relationship Management - Manage effective working relationships with all direct reports and team members to ensure the wider IT team works together to support the Group’s business objectives
  • IT Support Excellence - Ensure that the IT Support team work closely with the Infrastructure and Business Systems teams to improve the quality of the IT support service provided to end users
  • Strategy and Planning - Regularly assess the IT environment in light of new and alternative systems / products / processes for incorporation in the annual IT plan and on an ad hoc basis
  • Programme Management - Oversee the IT development programme and key IT processes/controls, including the delivery of projects
  • Risk, Controls and Cyber Security - Ensure projects are appropriately governed in line with corporate policies and good practice and report any issues to the Risk & Controls Manager and/or Cyber Security Manager.

The Group Head of IT Candidate:

The client is seeking somebody who is dynamic, engaging, has strong stakeholder management skills, is self-motivated and can work independently. In addition to excellent communication skills (written/verbal), you must have gravitas and be able to demonstrate the following:


  • Demonstrable communication, collaboration and leadership skills (Infrastructure, Support and Business Systems teams)
  • Commercial Property or Retail sector experience
  • Self-motivated and proactive with good organisational skills
  • Critical thinking and business acumen
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to prepare and present documentation to senior business stakeholders (including non-IT stakeholders)
  • Proven knowledge and expertise in the use of programme management and change management techniques
  • Very good IT technical background (Network, Windows environment and security)
  • Proven team management skills, including motivation and development support
  • Track record of successful IT project management (infrastructure/technical and business systems) and delivery
  • Technical IT skill set/systems knowledge
  • Ability to interface with business users at all levels
  • Budget management skills
