ACS Technician

Location: Basingstoke

Salary: Competitive

Hours per week: 39 Hours

Main Purpose of the ACS Technician:

  • To undertake service and repair work in accordance with the requirements of the request and to update the system with respect to work done and any faults discovered, seeking advice from product specialists where necessary.
  • To become cross-trained on a variety of products over time.
  • Responsible for re-evaluating returns requests within process which are not covered by the initial authorisation.
  • To be able to communicate at a technical level with all necessary departments.
  • Ability to produce accurate technical notes & reports upon request.

Responsibilities of the ACS Technician:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to integrate in to an established team and to work in close liaison with peers and superiors.
  • Determination of service level required and to undertake service as per agreed schedule(s).
  • Determination of repairs required and to undertake as per the return request.
  • Determination of whether returned product is covered by or outside of warranty acceptance criteria.
  • Acquisition of spare parts as required for repair technicians.
  • Creation of requests to return product to customer, stock, service stock or for scrap.
  • Scrappage of products and associated parts deemed of no further use.
  • To be able to communicate at a technical level, including writing technical notes and/or reports as required.
  • Ad hoc reports for extraordinary interventions.
  • Liaise with NPD in the development of new products for service requirements and the purposes of service and repair.

Requirements of the ACS Technician:


  • Educated to GCSE level C or above in Maths, English and a science subject
  • Computer literate and able to work with Microsoft Office or equivalent
  • Relevant technical based training
  • Electronic/electro-mechanical assembly or service experience
  • Hydro-pneumatic assembly or service experience
  • Negotiation skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to communicate at a technical level and hold their own, both internally with NPD Engineers and customers.
  • Thorough understanding of electro-mechanical and hydro-pneumatic assemblies
  • Team player able to work with all levels and departments


  • Service industry experience
  • Knowledge of medical devices industry
  • Customer facing skills
