Technical Assistant/ Optimiser
£9.30 per hour
Benefits: Pension Scheme and Cycle to Work scheme 
Tiptree, Essex

Our client is based in Tiptree, Essex and was established in 1958. They offer a dedicated DIY and Shelving service supplying a range of Melamine and Veneered panels. Furniture components are manufactured on our state of the art machinery which occupies several well-constructed factories on their sixteen acre site.

They are currently looking to recruit a Technical Assistant/Optimiser to join their Technical Department.

The Role
As their Technical Assistant/Optimiser, you will be responsible for interpretation of customer orders into factory data, material optimisation, allocation and ordering.

You will be expected to:

  • Interpret customer orders by using in-house software to produce accurate information for the factory.
  • Ensure optimised use of raw materials, including existing offcuts at all times and minimise waste.
  • Providing technically accurate information to the shop floor for process and production.
  • Work within Health and Safety at Work act of 1974 at all times and in all working areas.
  • Ad-hoc tasks may be requested from time to time that is not listed above, but will be required.
  • Additional hours may be required during busy periods.
  • Perform any reasonable management instruction within time frame requested.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 07:30 am to 17:00 pm, and flexibility with working hours is essential as overtime will be required from time to time.

The Candidate
To be considered for their Technical Assistant/Optimiser role, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • MS Excel (Intermediate Level), MS Outlook, Minimum GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Ideally worked with sheet board optimisation software before but not essential
  • Knowledge of general engineering and manufacturing process
  • Previous experience within an administrative role is preferable.
  • Able to work effectively with a team to achieve collaborative goals and outputs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and enthusiasm are essential, as is the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Logical thinker with the ability to plan and organise workload
  • Identifies problems, managing to resolution.
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Investigative nature.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Maintain excellent working relations with key departments and managers to ensure communication is well delivered throughout
  • Must be pro-active and able to multi-task within a busy working environment
