Stores and Logistics Manager

Location: Castlecary, Cumbernauld G68 0FS

Salary: Competitive

Hours of Work: 39-hour week (M-T, 0730 – 1600, F – 0730 - 1430)

About the Company:

CMS Window Systems is an industry leading building envelope contractor specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of PVCu and aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling systems.

We are looking to recruit a Stores & Logistics Manager for a newly created, full time, permanent position.

Based from our manufacturing site in Castlecary, Cumbernauld, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the stores and dispatch functions of the business ensuring the correct volumes of materials are available at the time they are required and that orders are delivered in line with customer and operational planning requirements.

Stores and Logistics Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage the purchasing of raw materials to ensure customer orders are fulfilled OTIF and production plans can be achieved, seeking opportunities for savings, price breaks and improved ways of working.
  • Develop and implement the strategy for introducing stock stability and agree achievable delivery dates for customers.
  • Produce detailed monthly board reports with projected spends on materials and dispatch dates for financial and operational purposes.
  • Manage the despatch function to ensure the correct processes are in place for vehicles to be loaded in good time with the correct product and made safe for transportation.
  • Ensure that the yard is maintained to a high standard with daily health and safety checks.
  • Ensure the correct processes are in place for booking stock/ goods into, and out of, our business systems to provide accurate, real time stock records and that these processes are being carried out correctly.
  • Manage and oversee the stock checking process (perpetual, month end, year-end and spot checks), ensuring it is being carried out effectively and accurately and that any issues found are resolved and prevented from re-occurring;
  • Define strategy and implement targets for reducing excess and ageing stock.
  • Manage the process for non-conforming materials effectively with suppliers ensuring that the materials are returned, replacement material is received, and / or relevant credits are issued;
  • Contribute to the business Sales & Operations Planning (SOP) process by forecasting current and future procurement needs and ensuring our suppliers have the right capacity available.
  • Work with Quality team to drive the required supplier scorecard performance rating and agree improvement plans where shortfalls arise.

Stores and Logistics Manager Requirements:

  • At least 2 years’ experience within a Stores / Logistics role at management level.
  • Experience of MRP systems would be preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Confidence to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Forklift operators’ certificate
  • Driving Licence
