Dover
£30,000 - £35,000 Per Annum

Their award-winning cruise port, one of the busiest in the UK, hosts some of the world’s most prestigious cruise lines. Their portfolio is diverse other successful business include a cargo terminal, award winning marina and several niche activities.

This is truly an exciting time to be part of their growing organisation. The Dover Western Docks Revival Project, the single biggest investment undertaken by the Port, will create a purpose-built cargo and logistics facility at the Port, which currently handles up to £122 billion of UK trade each year.

The Senior Communications Executive Role
They are looking for a forward thinking individual to join our Policy and Communication Team. As Senior Communications Executive you will be responsible for driving and protecting a positive, dynamic and professional image of the Port of Dover Group and its vision, its business streams and subsidiaries through external relations and media activities.

Duties of the Senior Communications Executive:


  • In liaison with the Head of Policy and Communications prepare the Communications plan and lead on its delivery, monitoring progress and providing timely and relevant input throughout the year
  • Cultivate positive relationships and provide a central corporate point of contact (press office) with the media and media/PR contacts in other (particular port-related) organisations (e.g ferry companies, statutory agencies, local authorities etc)
  • Provide a daily media report to management utilising a paid-for monitoring service
  • Agree media handling and filming requests
  • Prepare and issue press releases to support corporate, project and business stream activities, marketing campaigns and community engagement.
  • Attend external meetings and events as directed by the Head of Policy & Communications and the CEO
  • You will also be included on the duty roster for on-call media duties

Requirements for our Senior Communications Executive Role


  • Degree level or equivalent professional qualification in a related area
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
  • Track record of contributing to and delivering on a communication and marketing plan for a national business or projects of national importance
  • Good knowledge of the ports and shipping industry
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills
  • Full driving licence and use of own vehicle
