Personal & Learning Support Worker – Term time only

Location: Great Barrow, near Chester

Role type: Temporary – Potential to become a permanent position

Salary: £14,371

Hours of work: 37.5 Hours (Mon – Fri 8.30am – 4pm)

Personal & Learning Support Worker Main Purpose:

  • To deliver the highest standards of care and education support
  • To proactively assist and support children and young people with autism to lead fulfilled and progressive lives
  • To enable children and young people with autism to have positive life experiences, promoting their independence and inclusion in all areas of life
  • To contribute towards achieving a positive record of achievement for individual children and young people with autism
  • To ensure the practical delivery of evidence-based approaches

Personal & Learning Support Worker Duties:

  • A requirement to work 37.5 hours over a 5-day school term, which meets the needs of the children and young people, and the organisation.
  • Working hours will be 8.30 – 4.00, the number of days is dependent on the contract, however you are required to be flexible to meet the needs of the school and students.
  • To undertake ongoing professional development according to identified needs
  • To attend regular supervision and team meetings
  • To maintain a constant awareness of the behaviour and condition of every student, so that a student’s distress does not go unnoticed. Assistance must be given or summoned, should distress be noted
  • To apply good working practice regarding confidentiality and equal opportunities
  • To communicate clearly both internally and externally the needs, views and achievements of the students in your care
  • To support in the preparation of the classroom, resources, and monitor educational achievement related to set targets.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time to meet changing service demands which are commensurate with the post.

Personal & Learning Support Worker Requirements:

  • Good standard of written and oral English
  • Relevant NVQ 3, QCF or equivalent
  • National Induction Standards
  • Common Core of Skills and Knowledge
  • Specialised autism specific training
  • 2 years within a related workplace
  • Experience supporting individuals in personal care
  • Experience working alongside vulnerable children and young people
