Littlemore, Oxford 
Circa £40,000 Per Annum (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Finance Manager with an interest in working within the charity and mental health sector? One in four people will experience mental ill health in their lifetime, or be close to someone who does. Our client is one of the largest mental health charities in Oxfordshire that provides housing and a range of support for people that experience severe and enduring mental health needs.

The Finance Manager Role
They are currently looking to recruit a Finance Manager to join their growing team who will play a vital role in guiding the organisation in making sound business decisions using financial information to inform business strategy. The role will involve acting as a deputy to the Finance Director representing a significant career opportunity for the right candidate.

Some of the core duties of the role will include:


  • Record financial transactions for project, department, or company
  • Preparing financial statements for internal & external use (P&L, Balance sheet, cash flow, banking covenant statements)
  • Reconcile spending versus budget as part of project costing
  • Prepare reports, budgets, variance analysis and commentaries of the financial statements
  • Analyse Response financial performance and prepare short term &  long term forecasts
  • Perform key balance sheet reconciliation tasks and central journal postings
  • Recommend ways of cost cutting and longer term cost management 
  • Work with departmental heads and management team to help make sound financial decisions
  • Supervise a team of payroll and payables staff
  • Assist in year-end processes and statutory accounts preparation
  • Liaise with external auditors for Statutory audits matters
  • Develop and manage financial systems/policies
  • Deputising for the Finance Director in their absence

Requirements for the Finance Manager Role
They require an analytical, detail-oriented critical thinker with knowledge of housing and understanding of charity finance regulations and legislations. You must be able to work independently, delegate to and manage a team and have the ability to work to a deadline. You should have either qualified as an Accountant or be on your way to qualification.
