About the Company:



F1000Prime is an award-winning literature recommendation service for the Medical and Life Sciences communities, is seeking an Editorial Assistant to join its team.

The role is based in central London and involves commissioning authors to write review articles for F1000 Faculty Reviews and copyediting editorial content. The successful candidate should ideally be a life sciences/biomedical graduate with a natural ability to communicate concepts clearly and enthusiastically. They should also be organised, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, show a high level of accuracy and demonstrate ability to multi-task and effectively prioritise tasks. Prior editorial experience is not required for this role as full training will be provided.

 



Editorial Assistant Duties:


  • Commission and liaise with authors by phone and email to ensure manuscripts are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Manage the refereeing process.
  • Answer questions authors and referees may have relating to the processing of articles.
  • Prepare articles for typesetting and editing.
  • Copyedit and publish short recommendation comments on F1000Prime.
  • Minimise bottlenecks in the editorial process to ensure issues associated with processing manuscripts are kept to a minimum.


Editorial Assistant Requirements:


  • Life sciences/biomedical graduate (advantageous)


  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys interacting with people
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong English language skills
  • Diplomacy/negotiation skills
  • Computer skills essential – especially Internet searching
  • Pro-active, resourceful and a good team player
  • Adaptable and willing to take on new and different responsibilities as they arise
  • Ability to handle multiple projects
  • Interest in science publishing
