Job Description

CNC Operator

Location: London

Salary: £15 - £18 per hour Dependent on Experience

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm

About the Company:

Our clients company are a team of furniture makers who work with designers and architects to bring their ideas to fruition. They have their own product range but also produce bespoke furniture.  They use time-honed skills, fine solid timbers, and handpicked veneers, to go from conception to prototype to manufacture. This is their established practice, making small batches of timeless and enduring furniture by hand from our London workshop.

Our client is now looking for a skilled CNC Operator to work with them in their London workshop.

CNC Operator Responsibilities:


  • Managing a pipeline of works orders for the CNC machine
  • Setting up the jobs on the machine
  • Monitoring the quality of the work pieces
  • Checking work against drawings to ensure accuracy
  • Changing tooling as required to complete a works order
  • Ensuring the machinery is kept in excellent working order
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment around the CNC
  • Liaising with the CNC Programmer to produce finished work pieces

CNC Operator Requirements:


  • Be familiar with all CNC routing processes on a flatbed machine with a matrix table (Essential).
  • Be proficient at machining solid timber, veneered boards and plywood boards (Essential).
  • Be able to work confidently from technical drawings and have solid experience with a variety of woodworking machinery and tools (Essential).
  • Experience of working with Masterwood CNC machine (Preferable).
  • Be able to work accurately and methodically whilst maintaining a clean and tidy workspace (Essential).
  • Be confident at working independently whilst also able to work effectively as part of a team on a variety of different projects (Essential).
  • Be punctual and sensitive to time demands relating to specific projects (Essential).
  • Have a positive attitude, a good work ethic, and the ability to work well within our small team of makers (Essential).
  • A good understanding of English, both written and spoken (Essential)
